The YFC Mettle Programme

Mettle at Ivybridge

The national Mettle scheme works through 3 key activity areas:

  • Teaching the basics of Christianity and addressing the gaps in Christian knowledge
  • Hot Potato sessions on hard-hitting issues
  • Wild Card sessions suggest ways to vary the programme, with socials or practical activities

METTLE for y10+ started at Ivybridge Community College in September 2007. The group have been digging into the Bible, talking about their habits, watching a video testimony, and helping out at a local Noel Richards concert.

A Youth Worship Service in Plymouth. Cafe, worship, talks and testimonies. Open to all young people at secondary school.

A grilling at Ivybridge Community College

Grillings at Ivybridge Community College

This year Elis continues his discussion sessions at the college. Last year he received a grilling from Year 7s who were keen to know his beliefs on a wide range of topics. He was asked to share the basics of his faith and to answer questions on topics of concern to young people. One such topic was 'Why Could a God of Love Allow Suffering'.


Youth Venue at Ivybridge Leisure Centre

Youth Venue: Social Justice Issues

Location: Ivybridge Leisure Centre. On Friday nights Ivybridge YFC is pleased to be able to continue to support the Youth Centre in their leisure nights. We hold a stand in the cafe area for young people to access and take the opportunity to discuss social justice issues. Typical topics:

  • The Indian Caste System - Stop the plight of the Dalits
  • World Aids Day - including a game produced for YFC + computer quiz
  • Fairtrade Fortnight
  • H.I.V. and A.I.D.S.
  • Street Children (Toybox)
  • Human Rights Abuses in China
  • Climate Related Poverty
  • Global Trafficking of People (Stop the Traffik)

Soul Survivor

Soul Survivor

An amazing week of camping, having fun, worshiping and learning about God. There are bands, sports contests, movies and loads more. Every day about 8000 young people all get together to worship along to incredible high-quality worship music.

How Much? £91 festival fee if paid in full by 29 April. There will be additional costs in the region of £40 for food and travel.

Fort Rocky

Fort Rocky

An outward- bound weekend run by Youth For Christ - combining many outdoor activities with indoor fun and games, Christian testimonies and teaching. The reports from other youth groups who have been to Fort Rocky tell us that it is brilliant fun with great spiritual input.

What is Soul Survivor?

This was held in August. It is a 5-day youth camp where together we get to journey with God, spend time praising God, listen to His word and pray for each other. Besides the main meetings we have a chance to hear a massive array of teaching sessions, attend live gigs and watch movies.

We've had great times in the past. Why not come along next year?



Summer 2010: The Tentmaker

A one man/one hour show focusing on the life of the Tentmaker.
