Supporting Prayer

Jesus said:

"Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do." (John 14.13)

So in faith we simply have to ask our Father in heaven in Jesus' name for all our needs - and that goes for YFC work too. In order to pray in an informed way for your local YFC we have listed our objectives and current activities below:

  • Our main objective is to take the good news of the gospel to every young person in Ivybridge and the South Hams area. This means meeting young people wherever they are! From our center in Ivybridge we work through a Village Partnership which involves a group of churches in the villages of Holbeton, Brixton, Wembury, Noss Mayo, Newton Ferrers and Yealmpton.
  • Work in Primary Schools: assemblies, lessons and Christian clubs e.g. SHINE in Newton Ferrers and Arrows in Yealmpton Primary School.

  • Work in Secondary Schools: Ivybridge Community College. This involves lunchtime groups [Rock Solid (Yrs 7-9) and Mettle (Yrs 10-13)]. Also R.E. teaching and support for young people on a one-to-one basis in partnership with the Student Welfare Department.
  • Mentoring Young People: youth leader training and prophetic encouragement for those wishing to develop skills within Christian ministry. There are sometimes early morning prayer meetings for this group of enthusiastic young people.
  • Work at Ivybridge Leisure Centre: We meet with young people in the Ivybridge Leisure Centre to discuss topical issues.
  • Church Support: help with church youth groups and youth worship events. We also support churches as they get involved with school religious education departments.

Pat writes:
Prayer is an amazing gift from God. The Almighty Creator God promises to hear you and me whenever we turn to Him. James 5.16 tells us that the prayers of righteous people are powerful and effective. Prayer builds up our personal relationship with God and we learn to hear His voice, to be quiet before Him, and to bring all things large and small before Him. When we come together to pray "with one accord", we as individuals join together becoming a strong voice crying out to our God in unity. Jesus said:

"If two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven.
(Mat 18.19,20)"

Thank you to all those who have committed to pray for YFC.
