We've only been going since October 2006, but look what we've done!
Soul Survivor 2007
Summer 2007 was the year the rains came! But it was also the year that hundreds of kids became Christians at Soul Suvivor. It was fantastic to be part of this.
Ivybridge YFC took 5 young emerging leaders along and we had a great time. It was good to hang out, drinking coffee and eating croissants at the morning breakfast sessions for 'youth leaders' as well as signing up for personal sessions that had a massive impact on our lives. As usual, God moved powerfully in the big top meetings.
The GSUS Live Trailer
The GSUS Live Trailer came to the YFC South Hams in 2007. It's 'high tech' and inside you'll find rows of computers where you can interact and find out about the Christian life.
In November we hosted an event at Ivybridge Youth Centre to celebrate National Youth Work Week. The topic was United We Stand. About 60 young people came along from Ivybridge, South Brent, Buckfastleigh and Totnes.
Local Bowling Contests
The 'Rock Solid' boys enjoyed beating the girls at bowling (by one point)!
Panna Football Comes to local schools!
In May, Ivybridge YFC organised a special form of 'caged' football (Panna Football) for people of Secondary School age. A great time was had in Modbury Primary, Wembury Primary, Victoria Park, Ivybridge, and The Spinney, Ivybridge. Thanks to the national YFC team who led this event.
Soul Survivor 2008 was in August and was a great success. Praise the Lord.
This was launched in September 2008 as part of the nation-wide Youth Alpha 2008 initiative. It was a great success with many young people taking a deeper interest in Christianity. See some of us below!
Soul Survivor 2010
What is Soul Survivor?
This event is a 5-day youth camp where together we get to journey with God, spend time praising God, listen to His word and pray for each other. Besides the main meetings we have a chance to hear a massive array of teaching sessions, attend live gigs and watch movies.
We've had great times in past years. Why not come along?

The national Mettle scheme works through 3 key activity areas:
METTLE for y10+ started at Ivybridge Community College in September 2007. The group have been digging into the Bible, talking about their habits, watching a video testimony, and helping out at a local Noel Richards concert.

Grillings at Ivybridge Community College
This year Elis continues his discussion sessions at the college. Last year he received a grilling from Year 7s who were keen to know his beliefs on a wide range of topics. He was asked to share the basics of his faith and to answer questions on topics of concern to young people. One such topic was 'Why Could a God of Love Allow Suffering'.
Youth Venue: Social Justice Issues
Location: Ivybridge Leisure Centre. On Friday nights Ivybridge YFC is pleased to be able to continue to support the Youth Centre in their leisure nights. We hold a stand in the cafe area for young people to access and take the opportunity to discuss social justice issues. Recent topics have been:
This year we will be looking at such topics as:
Why not come along and have your say too?
Summer 2010: The Tentmaker
A one man/one hour show focusing on the life of the Tentmaker.
"Funny, Passionate, Ariticulate, Smart. A crafter of words, A passionate performer, A great sense of humour."
See Poster for more details. Held at Ivybridge Methodist Church.
Faith Enrichment Day at ICC
Elis and Mark (SWYM) recently did workshops for the 6th form at Ivybridge Community College. They had about 50 young people attend and it was really exciting to answer their questions - which were interesting and challenging. We trust that the young people were encouraged by their witness and that they saw the difference from the other faiths represented.
